Editing - Cutting our shots

Whilst editing one of our main concerns was to build pace within the sequence. This was done through post production editing when we cut our shots even shorter than we originally expected. This was useful because we begun to understand how not using necessarily all of the shot can build tension because it restricts the viewers understanding of what is happening. It was difficult to decide which part of a shot we wanted. As one of our protagonists is static in the film (standing still holding a balloon) the cross cutting helps add suspense as it helps create the idea he is waiting for something and the countdown suggests it is happening soon. The fast cross cutting quickly links all the shots together suggesting even though they contain different subjects they all are related to each other. We thought it would also be effective to do a fade in and out on one of the shots as this helped the flow of really short clips.
